A Lasting Legacy Takes Root at French Park
An anonymous donor’s transformational generosity is helping to restore the forest, improve trails and shape a more accessible future for one of Cincinnati’s largest parks.
Cincinnati Parks, in partnership with Cincinnati Parks Foundation, is leading efforts to protect and restore Cincinnati's urban forest, alongside donors and community organizations.
A recent episode of CET's Brick by Brick highlights this work, including a transformational $1.8 million gift from an anonymous donor supporting the largest reforestation effort in a Cincinnati Park in nearly a century. The multi-year initiative will remove honeysuckle and other invasive species, restore the forest with a diverse mix of native trees and improve trails to make the park easier to navigate, more accessible and more enjoyable for visitors.
The work at French Park is about more than planting trees. It is an opportunity to restore a healthier forest, enhance how people experience the park and create a model for reforestation and thoughtful access that can inform future conservation efforts across Cincinnati and beyond.
