Overlook Challenge
Cincinnati is a city shaped by its hills.
Across the park system, overlooks reveal sweeping views of neighborhoods, forests, and river valleys. These vantage points are more than scenic destinations. They are part of a network of hillside parks that protect ecosystems, preserve public access to beauty, and help define Cincinnati’s identity.
The Overlook Challenge, invites you to explore these places, experience new perspectives, and connect more deeply with the landscapes that shape our city.

More Than a View
Cincinnati’s overlooks are not accidental. They are designed experiences.
Across the park system, overlooks were intentionally placed to frame the landscape. Some feature historic structures, while others rely on simple elements like stone edges and open lawns to let the land speak for itself.
At hillside parks like Mt. Echo Park, Bellevue Hill, Eden Park, and Mt. Storm Park, each overlook offers a distinct perspective—yet together they reflect a shared tradition of park design that connects people to the city through landscape.
From these vantage points, you see more than a great view. You see forests, neighborhoods, infrastructure, and waterways held together in a single view.
The Work Behind our Overlooks
The beauty of these overlooks is sustained by ongoing care.
The Natural Resources Division of Cincinnati Parks manages and protects thousands of acres of forested parkland across the city. Their work includes restoring habitats, removing invasive species, managing tree canopy, maintaining trails, and working with volunteers in stewardship.
These efforts keep Cincinnati’s hillsides healthy, resilient, and accessible.

The Ridgeline Vistas of the Urban Basin.
